What is Shaw's for U™?

Shaw's for U™ is our loyalty program that offers personalized deals, digital coupons, rewards, and so much more.  It’s easy (and free) to become a member of Shaw's for U™.

What are the benefits of enrolling in Shaw's for U™?  

Becoming a Shaw's for U member is free, easy, and offers access to the maximum level of savings. Shaw's for U™  members receive weekly personalized deals on groceries, a welcome offer, annual birthday treat, free item every month and more. Members can earn Points on all eligible purchases and use Points towards free products, discounts on gas, and cash off

What is the Birthday treat and how do I receive it? 

At the beginning of your birthday month, qualifying Shaw's for U™ members will receive a birthday treat offer (up to $10 value) placed into their Shaw's for U™ account. It’s our way of celebrating our Shaw's for U™ members’ birthday! 

To qualify for a birthday treat offer, simply add your birthday (month and day) to your Shaw's for U™ account and use your Shaw's for U™ account to purchase an item in-store or online within the last 12 months prior to the offer being added to your Shaw's for U™ account. 

How do I receive a free item every month?

As a Shaw's for U™ member, you will receive an offer for a free item (up to $10 value) once per month. To receive a free item every month (up to $10 value), add the offer to your Shaw's for U™ account prior to the expiration date specified on the offer. You will be eligible to receive your first free item starting at the beginning of the month following the month in which you registered for Shaw's for U™. You must redeem the offer in store or as part of your online transaction prior to the expiration date specified on the offer. To continue receiving monthly free item offers after redeeming your first monthly free item offer, you must use your Shaw's for U™ account to purchase an item in-store or online within the last 12 weeks of redeeming the offer. See Program Details for more information. 

How do I earn Points?

Earn Points by shopping at Shaw's or other participating Albertsons Companies store locations or by shopping through our mobile apps or websites. To receive Points on purchases, be sure to use the registered mobile number or scan the Member Card in the Shaw's Deals & Delivery mobile app at checkout:  

  • Earn 1 Point for every $1 you spend on groceries.  
  • Earn 2 Points for every $1 you spend on gift cards.  
  • Earn 1 Point for every $1 you spend on qualifying pharmacy purchases.   

Qualifying purchases exclude:     

  • Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.    
  • Fuel and automotive services.  
  • Fluid dairy items in the refrigerated dairy section—including fluid dairy substitutes, depending on state and local laws.

If a members valid Shaw's for U loyalty account is linked to an Instacart, DoorDash, or Uber account prior to completing a purchase, online purchases made through these marketplaces are eligible for earning Shaw's for U Points. 

How do I use Points and what can they be used for?

Points can be used for the following:   

  • Free grocery items or tiered basket discounts e.g., 300 Points = $4 off, 1,000 Points = $15 off, etc. that are available to clip in the Grocery Rewards Gallery.  
  • Discounts on gas at participating fuel stations:   
    • 100 Points = 10 cents off / gallon   
  • Automatic cash off:
    • Every 100 Points will automatically convert to $1 off at your next checkout.   

To use Points for grocery rewards:    

  1. Go to the "Rewards" section of your Shaw's for U app or website. 
  2. Select your desired grocery reward(s) based on your available Points balance.   
  3. The quantity of Points needed for the desired grocery reward will be deducted from your Shaw's for U account once you select your desired grocery reward.  
  4. Shop for your selected grocery reward item(s). Be sure to input your registered mobile phone number or scan the member QR code at checkout.   

To use Points for gas:   

  1. Input your registered mobile phone number at a participating gas station.  
  2. Select YES to apply your Points.  

To use Points for automatic cash off:   

  1. Go to the "Rewards" section of your store app or website.  
  2. On the automatic cash off banner, toggle to the “on” position to opt in.  
  3. Once opted in, every 100 Points earned will automatically convert to a $1 off at the next checkout.  
    • Note that while opted into automatic cash off, Points can still be used towards gas rewards.  
  4. You can opt out from auto cash off at any time by toggling to the “off” position. Once opted out, you can again use your Points towards grocery rewards.  

Do Points expire?

Yes. Unused Points will expire within two calendar months, including the month they are earned. For example, if 100 Points are earned in January, those 100 Points will be available to use until the end of February. Points do not expire for FreshPass® (where available) subscribers.   

How do I keep track of my Points? 

Members can track Points through the Shaw's Deals & Delivery mobile app or website. Balances can also be viewed on your shopping receipt. Members can also go to “Rewards History” under the rewards section of our website to see Points earned, Points used, Points reclaimed, and total Points balance. 

Shaw's for U™ PROGRAM TERMS & CONDITIONS
Shaw's for U™ program is a free customer loyalty program offered by Albertsons Companies, Inc. (“Program”) that allows the participants of the Program (“Program Members” or individually, “Program Member”) to receive weekly personalized deals on groceries, earn Points on all eligible purchases, use Points for discounts on gas and groceries, receive an annual birthday treat, receive a free item every month, and more (“rewards”)! Program Member-only perks are described in more detail below. No purchase is required to become a Program Member. For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, references to “grocery banners” include the following: Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, Acme, Carrs, Shaws, Star Market, Safeway, Andronico’s, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Kings and Balduccis. Restrictions and exclusions apply. 

The Shaw's for U™ program terms and conditions set forth herein (“Terms and Conditions”) together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy govern your participation and use of the Program. We, in our sole discretion, may restrict, suspend, amend, discontinue extend, or otherwise alter these Terms and Conditions and/or the Program or any aspects of the Program at any time and without prior notice. As we may update these Terms and Conditions or the Program from time to time without notice, we encourage you to review these Terms and Conditions periodically. By enrolling in, using, or continuing to use the Program, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. We also reserve the right to modify or cancel any offer/order and/or correct typographical, pictorial, and other ad or pricing errors associated with the Program. Online promotions, offers, discounts and savings may differ from those in our physical stores. Additionally, each of the Program rewards along with the welcome offers, birthday treat offer, monthly free item offer, and other perks are subject to their applicable offer terms and restrictions. CREATING AN ACCOUNT
To participate in the Shaw's for U™ program and to become a Program Member, you must create an account. There are two ways to create an account: (1) enter your 10-digit mobile phone number in an in-store PIN pad at checkout, or (2) register online at shaws.com/foru or through our mobile application by providing complete and accurate information. Program Members using a mobile phone number (or previous Club Card number) in-store, may earn Points and redeem gas rewards (for fuel), grocery rewards (for groceries), or automatic cash off purchases, but in order to receive additional Program Member perks, Program Members should register their own account online by signing into their account at shaws.com/foruor by downloading the Shaw's for U mobile app. Program Members who enter a mobile phone number in an in-store PIN pad at checkout that is not linked to an online Shaw's for U™ account may receive one or more SMS text invitations to register their account online to earn additional Program Member perks and to redeem digital offers. 

MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
Multiple Shaw's for U™ accounts can be linked together within a household. When such accounts are linked, the same Program offers will be received, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable offers.  If you want to link or unlink your Shaw's for U™ accounts, please contact our Customer Service Center toll free line at 1-877-258-2799. If a Program Member’s account number is used by any other person, all Points relating to purchases made by such other person will be credited to the Program Member’s account. 

UNAUTHORIZED ACCOUNT USE/COMPROMISED ACCOUNTS/ACCOUNT SUSPENSION
Shaw's assumes no liability or responsibility for Points used by any person(s) prior to a notification to our Customer Service Center that the Program Member’s account number was used by an unauthorized person or has been compromised. Any Points used prior to such notification, whether by the Program Member or an unauthorized third party, shall be deducted from the Program Member’s account. 

Using multiple accounts to exceed limits on offers and promotions is not permitted. If we determine that a Program Member has abused any of the Program’s privileges, fails to comply with any of these Terms and Conditions, or makes any misrepresentation to us, we may, in our sole discretion, take such actions as we deem appropriate, including, without limitation, suspending such Program Member’s privileges under the Program, revoking any or all of the Points in such Program Member’s account, and/or revoking the Program Member’s participation in the Program, in each case, with or without advance notice to such Program Member and without liability to Safeway and/or Albertsons Companies, Inc. or its other grocery banners.

POINTS
Use Points on grocery items, discounts on gas at participating stations, or automatic cash off at checkout. One Point will be awarded for each whole dollar spent using your Albertsons Companies for U™ account on eligible/qualifying grocery and pharmacy purchases, and two Points will be earned for each whole dollar spent to purchase eligible gift cards.  

EXCLUSIONS
Eligible/qualifying purchases for Points exclude: (1) alcoholic beverages and tobacco products; (2) fuel and automotive services; (3) bus/commuter passes, fishing/hunting licenses and tags, ski/amusement park passes, stamps, money orders/transfers, lottery/event tickets; (4) any financial instrument that can be redeemed for goods or services at participating Albertsons Companies banner stores - including (but not limited to) gift certificates, money orders/transfers, and gift or debit cards issued by American Express®, MasterCard®, Visa®, any bank, or any Albertsons Companies banner store; (5) phone cards; (6) fuel gift cards, including but not limited to Filling Participant gift cards; and (7) fluid dairy items in the refrigerated dairy section—including fluid dairy substitutes, depending on state and local laws. 

Bottle/container deposits, applicable taxes, fees, and other charges, if applicable, are not purchases and are not eligible to accrue Points. For pharmacy purchases, only your out-of-pocket costs (e.g., prescription co-pays) are eligible to earn Points.

EXPIRATION
Points will expire within two months, including the month they are earned. For example, if 100 Points are earned in January, those 100 Points will be available to use until the end of February. Points do not expire for FreshPass® (where available) Subscribers. 

VALUE/TRANSFERABILITY OF POINTS
Points have no cash value and are not exchangeable for cash. The accumulation of points does not entitle Program Members to any vested rights, and Albertsons Companies and/or its grocery banners do not guarantee in any way the continued availability of any rewards, redemption level, rebate, or any other benefit.  Albertsons Companies and/or its grocery banners assume no liability to Program Members for the addition or deletion of items in their Shaw's for U™ account for which Points can be collected and/or used. 

Points cannot be assigned, exchanged, traded, bartered, purchased, or given by gift or otherwise sold or transferred. Any Points so acquired will be void. In the event of a return/exchange of any eligible/qualifying purchase that initially earned Points, such Points will be deducted automatically from the Shaw's for U™ account that was used for the eligible purchase (whether the account number is presented at the time of return and/or exchange). Points will be deducted at the same rate as they were earned.

Upon the return and/or exchange of products awarded through the redemption of Points, all used Points will be forfeited. 

Rewards Terms
Gas Rewards Terms 
Every 100 Points equals 10 cents off per gallon at participating owned and partner fuel stations. Gas reward savings in a single fuel transaction are limited (i) to 25 gallons for one vehicle per transaction––subject to rounding ; (ii) to the maximum per-gallon gas rewards discount available at our partner fuel stations (typically limited to 20 cents off per gallon) and $1.00 off per gallon at owned fuel stations; and to any transaction dollar limits that your financial institution may place on your payment card. To use rewards for gas, you must establish eligibility by entering the phone number used to register your Shaw's for U™ account before pumping fuel. Points will be available for use at fuel stations approximately one hour after being earned. Gas rewards may be temporarily unavailable for immediate use due to technical or maintenance issues. Gas rewards may be redeemed only at Albertsons Companies’ banner stores fuel stations and at participating partner stations. Gas rewards are not available in the Jewel-Osco market area. One-Touch Fuel™, Scan & Pay, Fast Forward and SmartCheck are not accepted as forms of payment at participating fuel stations.

Grocery Rewards Terms
Grocery rewards are available only under the Albertsons Companies grocery banner store that offers such rewards and are not transferable to other grocery banners. To use Points for groceries, you must use a valid phone number associated with your Shaw's for U™ account when checking out in-store or online.  To use your Points for a grocery rewards item, the accrued Points balance in your Shaw's for U™ account must equal or exceed the grocery rewards requirement of that offer; no partial grocery rewards will be applied. Once you elect to use Points toward grocery rewards offer and confirm your offer selection, the applicable Points will be deducted from your Shaw's for U™ account. Grocery rewards may be temporarily unavailable for immediate use due to technical or maintenance issues. Rewards may be reclaimed for reuse until the expiration date specified on the grocery reward offer. Removing a confirmed grocery reward offer from “My List”; will not restore Points applied. There may be a lag between the time when you use your Points and when your Points balance is updated. Attempting to reuse Points that have already been applied may result in a negative Points balance until you accumulate enough Points to eliminate such a deficit.  

Automatic Cash Off Terms
Auto cash off is an opt-in feature you can use to save by automatically turning your Points into cash off. Once you opt in, your Points will automatically convert to cash off at your next purchase. Every 100 Points will convert to $1 cash off at the time of checkout. If your Points balance exceeds the dollar value of your transaction, the Points that apply in that transaction will be one hundred less than your current Points balance. For example, if your grocery bill is $14.96 and you have 1500 Points available, 1400 Points will trigger at the point of checkout and you will receive $14 off in savings. Cannot be converted to or used as cash. No cash value to Points other than as cash off at purchase. 

Note that the Grocery Rewards Gallery will no longer be available once opted into automatic cash off, however you can continue to use Points for gas rewards while opted in (as long as you have an available balance). 

You can opt out of auto cash off at any time. Should you opt out, the Grocery Rewards Gallery will become available. 

PROGRAM MEMBER PERK – SMS OPT-IN OFFER
After opting into SMS text messages, you will receive a 500 Points offer within seven (7) days of opting into SMS text messages. Only new subscribers to SMS are eligible for this offer. You will be notified via text message once the offer is placed in your Shaw's for U™ account. To opt in or out of SMS text messages, go to “Communication Preferences” in the Account section of the Shaw's for U™ app or website. Limit to 1 offer per household.  

PROGRAM MEMBER PERK – WELCOME OFFER
As a new Program Member, you will receive a welcome offer (“$5 off your next purchase of $25 or more”) within twenty-one (21) days of creating your Shaw's for U™ account. The offer will be emailed to you shortly after registering for the Program and placed in your Shaw's for U™ account. Previous just for U™ program members are excluded from receiving this offer.

To receive these Program Member price discounts, you must use your Shaw's for U™ account number at checkout or the phone number you used when registering for your Shaw's for U™ account. 

PET PERKS DISCLAIMER
+Pet Health Savings Card: Save up to 80% on pet prescriptions (based on all discounted prescription claims that were run through the AVIA Pet Savings Program in 2021 compared to prescription prices when paid with cash without the Discount Card). This is a Discount Card program and is NOT insurance or a Medicare prescription drug plan. The program is not intended as a substitute for insurance and does not meet creditable coverage requirements under state or federal law. To obtain this Discount Card, you must have an active for U™ account. The Discount Card will be accessible through your for U™ account’s digital wallet. The program provides discounts at participating pharmacies on certain prescription drugs. The range of discounts will vary depending on the products received. The pricing estimates given are based on the most recent information available and may change based on when you fill your pet’s prescription at the participating pharmacy. Members are obligated to pay the pharmacy the entire amount of the discounted rate for such products at the point of sale. The Program does not pay pharmacies for products provided to members. No sign-up or periodic fees apply. The benefits of this Discount Card are personal to the Member and not transferable. PROGRAM MEMBER SAVINGS CLAIM - SAVE UP TO 20% WEEKLY
The Shaw's for U™ up to 20% weekly savings percentage is derived from markdowns over gross sales from Albertsons Companies banner stores transactions from for U™ members who shopped and redeemed digital offers between June 19, 2022, and June 17, 2023, resulting in approximately half of these participating members saving 20% or more (calculation excluded the Haggen stores market in which for U™ was still introductory). Markdowns include discounts from member pricing and redemption of digital coupons and deals, redemption of grocery rewards and associate discounts. Gross sales include in-store and online sales based on grocery prices before markdowns and taxes and exclude pharmacy and fuel sales. Weekly discount percentage may range and may be less than 20% savings.   

PROGRAM MEMBER SAVINGS CLAIM - SAVE UP TO $300 A YEAR 
The Shaw's for U™ up to $300 a year savings amount is derived from markdowns of transactions from participating Albertsons Companies for U™ members who enrolled prior to September 1, 2022 (enrolled in the program for at least one year) and participated by shopping and redeeming digital offers between September 4, 2022 and September 2, 2023, resulting in approximately half of these participating members saving at least $300 during the year (calculation excludes the Haggen stores market in which for U™ is still introductory). Markdowns include discounts from member pricing and redemption of digital coupons and deals, redemption of grocery rewards and associate discounts from in-store and online transactions, excluding pharmacy and fuel sales. Yearly savings amount may range and may be less than $300 within a year.  

RETURN/EXCHANGE POLICY
In the event of a return/exchange of any eligible/qualifying purchase that initially earned Points, such Points will be deducted automatically from the Shaw's for U™ account that was used for the eligible purchase (whether or not the account number is presented at the time of return and/or exchange). Points will be deducted at the same rate as they were earned.

Upon the return and/or exchange of products awarded through the redemption of Points, all used Points will be forfeited. 

OTHER TERMS
We reserve the right to suspend, change, or otherwise terminate the Program at any time without prior notice. These Terms and Conditions are in addition to our Terms of Use and shall be read together as one and the same instrument; provided, that if there is a conflict between any terms set forth in these Terms and Conditions and Terms of Use, these Terms and Conditions will govern. Additionally, the welcome offers, birthday treat offer, monthly free item offer, and other perks are subject to their applicable offer terms and restrictions. The Shaw's for U™ customer loyalty program was previously known as just for U®. The new name of the program, Shaw's for U™, launched across Albertsons Companies store banners on August 11, 2021, retaining all the perks from just for U® and adding new perks governed by the Shaw's for U™ Terms and Conditions described above.
